Got the Asus G51 from BB. Love it. I solved my first problem of the 260m not downclocking in 2d mode with the 186.81 drivers by going to the 186.82 with the modded .inf Which works Extremely Well! Love these drivers. My temps also dropped by 8c after switching to them. (that's a subjective opinion though)
But noticed...(and it may have done it with the old drivers not really sure)..GPU-Z is reporting PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ only 1x after waking from sleep. After a reboot...it goes back to 16x. So not really a big deal if I want to start gaming. Just reboot and play. I thought after launching a game it would ramp up automatically along with the clocks back to 16x ... but it's not.
Any ideas? Does it really matter?

you don't want it constantly at x16. x16 will up your temps, it means that its running at full bore (as if you're gaming). it will clock up to x16 when in Extra (3D Gaming) and then go back to 1x after exiting the game.

How quick does it drop back down to 1x? I tried launching a game to see if it would ramp up... but I did not do alt-tab. I just closed the game and check it and it showed @ 1x. If it does this quickly then that's fantastic. That's exactly what I want. But I'm suspect if it is even coming out of 1x.

Thanks for the quick reply BTW -
If its not coming out of x1, you would have severe stuttering and very low framerates in games.

It's definitely smooth. So that would definitely mean it's ramping up. Thanks Again. I love these 186.82 drivers.
Thanks To All who post. I've read about 2,000 pages of threads to learn all about this beast of a laptop. And you all have solved all my problems/questions from previous posts!

I've had issues with GPU-Z where it wouldn't detect the right PCI-E rating. I would open up GPU-Z, run Furmark, and notice that it was still as x16 even fifteen minutes are finishing the test and my temperatures had dropped back down to normal. I restarted GPU-Z and I got an x1 reading.

oh yes haha. I just remembered..ya, the PCI bus doesn't register when it changes in GPU-Z. you do have to restart it to see the change. I guess it only looks for things on that first tab upon startup.

Can you post a link to the drivers that fixed your problem? When I restart GPU-z, it stays at 16x...
G51 260m GPU-Z shows PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ 1X after sleep
