    Hello,

I recently bought a G51Vx (not from the US) that has similar specs to the A1.
I noticed that my idle temperatures are pretty high.. around 60-70 deg C. But when I tried playing crysis and NFS Undercover the gpu temp only hit 97 deg..

    Here's a screenshot:

I only bought this laptop a few days ago.. anyone got any advice on what can i do? The CPU temps seem fine.

Hmm. Use GPU-Z to see if your GPU is at maximum clocks in non-game usage. That happens to some people and it kicked their heat up. Also, what is your ambient temperature, and in what game did you see 97C?

    Hello Forge,

    Thanks for the prompt reply..
I think its at maximum clocks.. check out the screenshots below:

My ambient temp is not very high. (not sure.. maybe 25-28 deg C) but the CPU and the HDD doesn't seem to be that hot so it should not be the ambient temps' problem.
The temp i hit 97 was crysis demo and NFS Undercover.

If that's the case how do i go about solving this? I'm using the latest nvidia drivers. I tried the dox but the temps seem higher...

    Thanks for your help :)

It looks like PowerMizer isn't kicking in. Download the PowerMizer button or enable PowerMizer through registry.

    downloading it and trying now..

EDIT: I turned it on and its rebooting now :p

Hope it works.. Thanks in Advance Soviet!

EDIT: I restarted and the Powermizer seems to have worked and the GPU is downclocked. Temps seems to be dropping. will leave it idle for a while and see what goes.. now its from 70 down to 63 deg C

What are the idle temps you guys get on your G51? :)

Nope. Your temps are a little bit on the high side, but they are still normal.

Yes because the HDD's are in RAID.

It sees both drives as one "raid" drive, therefore there is no thermal sensor to associate to the "raid" drive.

If you are running at 2D clocks and getting 60C, it is indeed too high.

You should be getting like at max mid 50Cs at 120/200

I've just checked my GPU clocks and see that I have the stock clocks while idling, (even with battery saver mode when on battery). (But Im getting good idling temps for some reason..45C)

Can someone help me where to download and enable Powermizer. I searched on Google, but no success. I got as far as here

I want to enable powermizer while on battery and disable while on AC, how do I do that?
