Hi, did any G51 owners experience random "Safely Remove Hardware" prompt while using your laptop in Vista?

I encounter this issue quite frequently; it seems to happen more often when i move the laptop slightly while it is turned on. You can hear those "ding dong", then "dong ding" sounds while it happens.

I was able to take a look at the prompt before it disappears (usually just within a second or so) and it was showing some media card reader device...

    Any idea or advice?
    Thanks in advance.

I have not experienced these problems, but I believe that maybe one of your connectors is out of place or not fully making contact. Thus, when you move your laptop, the computer thinks that something is becoming unplugged because the connection is failing on the media card reader.

Have you installed all current updates to the computer?

If you have not modded you laptop, perhaps returning it to BB will be the best idea for now. I am sure if you explain yourself, they will be glad to replace it for you. Good luck!

Haven't had that happen. Try to remove the fake SD adapter that's plugged into the card reader and see if it still happens (if so it looks like you have a problem).

    Sorry forgot to ask.

Does the media reader on your g51s always show up under the "safely remove hardware prompt"? (i.e. is the device always there, or only when you plug in a media card)

Not positive on this but from what I remember, it doesn't. When I used it for a flash drive, I only saw that within the prompt. I'll double check when I get home though.

    Thank you in advance.

Ya it does show the safely remove hard prompty with a flash drive plugged in. But the one I saw was related to the media card reader (I think it's the behavior when you have a media card plugged in, just not sure if it should be there when there are no card inserted)

    Thanks again.

My taskbar does not have a remove hardware prompt for the card reader.
