i searched but couldn't find anything.

just recently got a BB G51. love it. installed win7ultimate from MSDN.

everything is working fine, but every time i reboot the computer or it goes into hibernate (which I have since disabled) the optical drive is disabled in device manager. I can go in and "enable" it by right clicking and then it works fine! but the next time I reboot it is disabled again and no apps will see it until i enable.

anyone have this problem or know what is going on?

I also just started getting this issue..no idea why. I'm on vista. Do you happen to have a virtual disk drive software installed?

well, i have macdrive 8 because i have a few Macs in the house. i wonder if that is messing with it. i don't have anything else but nero 8 and haven't had that issue with any other computer running Nero 8. I will uninstall MacDrive and see if that has anything to do with it.

I've had this issue ever since I got my G51. It will even turn off 1 min after I turn it on. I think I saw a message that it's disabled because it's using up resources or something of that nature.

Best I could do was make a shortcut on the desktop to device manager to save a few mouse clicks ...

Ok issue solved (for me) I'd accidentally turned off the ODD (optical disk drive) in Power4Gear for Game mode.
