Ok for some reason today I turned on my computer and my wireless is going crazy. At start up I think it slows down the whole computer while it searches. Then it says its connected to the internet which its not. The network and sharing wont respond. I cant connect to a network. I tried to install new drivers the install just lagged out. Anything I try and do related to the wireless portion of this computer just lags out and wont respond. even uninstalling the driver.

Everything else seems to work fine. I dont want to be tied down to a cord today, if I can help it.

Is there a better wireless card I can get for the laptop that might not have as many problems? I could prolly get a usb one but this laptop is less than a month old.

try disabling first the wireless card, uninstall and them run CCleaner Registry Utility to erase every crap file, reboot and try to install again the last drivers from Asus website .. i think i saw a few more releases since the original one.

I haven't tried my wireless full capability since i don't have a wireless connection in my house, but the other day i went to a coffe with the NB and it works fine for me, first an error popup saying that there was a problem, i run win7 connection manager assistance (suicide, i know) and the problem just dissapear.

What is is worrying me is how good is the receptor since i was 4/5 bars in the place .. i think i saw a tweak for the G51 wireless card signal.

OK i went into safe mode and installed the new driver. Now I booted into windows and its says it cant connect because its turned off. It seems my switch on the front no matter which way I slide it its off. So now I gotta figure out why my console 2 switch is broken.

theres the manual switch, and then the Fn + F2 that can toggle between bluetooth and Wlan on/off, did you try that? Also, I noticed my laptop's wireless is a little sluggish if I have both bluetooth and Wlan turned on at the same time

Yup tried the FN key combo. Yeah only network adapter that doesnt work like its suppose to is the wireless. Ok so to deal with the wireless console 2 deal I uninstalled it and now I cant find my wireless adapter to save my life.

Yes i have been all over that slow support site. There isnt a driver that clearly says wireless console 2. Plus I can find more up to date drivers off intels site.

Edit: In my rush and the site being slow and not loading all the 17 things in the utility section, I found it at the bottom after a half hour of loading.

its under utilities, and it is definitely there. and definitely says wireless console 2.

    "Version V2.0.10

    Description Wireless Console Utility
    Wireless Console Utility for Vista"

Its also on the blue and white driver disc that came with your laptop

Im away from home so I dont have my discs with me. This problem is actually getting funny now. Now my network adapter is no where to be found even after install of wireless console. Im saying screw it and I will go buy a usb adapter this is not worth the stress. Windows 7 will be out thursday so I will see if that helps with a new install.

It looks like your wireless adapter has croaked. Its probably better to contact ASUS tech support for a replacement.

Many have had issues with intel5100. Im thinking on upgrading it to 5300, its only $30 so might be worth the upgrade not to deal with it.

I just Installed the 5300 last week and I had the console problem. All I did was open the bottom of the laptop and checked the wires on the card, moved them a little bit and wireless worked for me. It may be that the card is a little loose.
