Since 2 days my Asus G51J 3D notebook has it's CPU fan on maximum speed all the time blowing out cold air. Asus probe tells me the CPU temperature is Fatal and the CPU Fan is fully on. But when I check the temperature with Speedfan it tells me GPU, HD0, HD1, Core0 untill Core4 are under 45C. Only temp 1 also called ACPI is at 97C.

At the same time it looks like the software for the powergear and disable touchpad buttons stopped working. Also the leds for the keyboard don't work but I can disable my wifi using the FN key...

    Anyone got a suggestion?

What OS you have running? If it's Vista, the recent windows updates are the culprit, I have done a system restore and the problem solved.

I have Windows 7 64 bit, just deinstalled the updates from 13th of april but it didn't solve the problem. I also tryed a restore of a month old image a new install and a reinstall of all asus drivers to no avail. The fan is on full speed the moment the notebook starts. I have filled a RMA and wil send the notebook to Asus tommorow.

Perhaps you should look at core temps. I would run that test first. They have that sensor test that will let you know if that 1 core is working or not working. my guess is that the sensor is not working properly. if the sensor is working properly, I would go into the device manager and uninstall the cpu drivers. rstart and let your computer reinstall the drivers again, then restart once more and see where you are at.
