No too up-to-speed on what these Notebooks are capable of "Benchingwise", anyhow here's my Mk06 Score, please let me know ow this shapes upin the "big scheme".

    Turbo Mode "on"
    GeForce Driver 195.62 WHQL
    GTX260M @ Stock (nVidia Stock) 550 / 1375 / 950

    btw....
    Max Temps gaming reach 93c / Idle Temps 54 - 60c
Absolutely no "up-clocking / down-clocking" issues at with this new Driver (problems with previous versions stuck at 3D Clocks)
Tons of gaming have never had a single BSOD
Removed quite a bit of Asus "crapware" including all Creative crap.

    3DMark 06 - 11,125
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=13163220

    With Turbo Mode enabled and 260M OC'd (575 / 975 / 1400) Max Temp 83c
    3DMK06 - 11,422
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=13170506

    Vantage - P5991 CPU 24,726 GPU 4783
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1871457

    With Turbo Mode enabled and 260M OC'd (575 / 975 / 1400) - Max Temp 85c
    Vantage - P6106

^^^ Slight OC on the GPU would put me well over the 6K (indeed it did)

    Cheers

Good results. I haven't had time to do a 3Dmark06 test yet, so I've been wondering how well the G51J-A1 scores. For the 3Dmark Vantage the CPU score is pretty consistent with mine, but the GPU I usually get around 4820~ range with nVidia stock GTX 260M clocks.

^^^^ Thanks, very happy with this $1400 Notebook indeed, although I must say, I'm used to running Vantage on my Desktop I7 with scores in the P34K range, seemed kinda "painful" looking at those Framerates ;)

Nice, I guess the G51's GTX 260M isn't as hot as people say it is. Now what are you waiting for, go try a few games and let us how the laptop runs.

Copied from where I posted them on the CPU throttling wiki:

    * Config: Win7 HP64, factory win7 install with a few uninstalls/updates, FW 195.62, Gentech BIOS 207.t10. GPUz, Rivatuner logs open in background. Default 3dmark06 settings.

    * All runs with identical settings bar brightness, Power4Gear profile "High Performance" [100% CPU with "Extreme Turbo"], GPU @ 590MHz core / 1500MHz shader / 1050MHz memory:

    11690 (3403 5096 4917)
    11712 (3436 5100 4912)
    11689 (3387 5105 4919)
    11684 (3377 5111 4916)
    11677 (3381 5101 4915)

Max temp during Furmark burn 96C, max during games 93C (very very occasionally 94C)

When i have cheapo cooler underneath, drops temps by up to 6C, but mostly 3-4C but can be negligible as the fan seems to almost always kick up at 93C, so all a cooler means sometimes is it kicks up to highest speed less often :(

    XP - asus clocks - [10970 3dmarks, 4696 4533 3434 single]
    XP - nvidia clocks - [11899 3dmarks, 5052 5119 3491 single]
    win7 - asus clocks - n/a but around 9900 iirc
    win7 - nvidia+20core clocks - [10276 3dmarks, 4408 4215 3250 single]
(no extreme turbo on any run, XP is on 195.55 and win7 on 195.81)

temps peak 93 in furmark @ nvidia clocks until the fan kicks in, then drop to 88c. gaming stays below 90 without highest speed at all times.

anything higher than 11.8k seems to get hit by the throttling, either system. SM3 games seem to be able to take a little bit more, so just about anything newer than 2005 will work without issues (if it's not too cpu-intensive as well).
