This seems like a really weird problem but everytime I lift up my Asus Laptop, my lan card craps out and I lose internet connection. It only happens when I lift my laptop and press my hand on the bottom where the lan card would be. I have tested this over and over and I am certain its because of me lifting it.

The problem can be fixed by just replugging in the ethernet cable but its kind of annoying.

Anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it?

It might be that your port has disconnected from your motherboard, you could try to re-solder it but i think it would be most wise to simply RMA it and get your mobo replaced for free.

The contacts in the ethernet port should be "springy" and have contact with RJ-45 connector even if it's wiggled around. However, I do have experience with some ethernet ports loosing contacts.

So far I have observed 2 reasons for this:

    1. Contacts in the ethernet port (socket) are worn out or bent and can't spring out enough to contact the jack's contacts. I assume that your laptop is new and wear out is unlikely, but it could be faulty ethernet port from factory.

    2. The actual RJ-45 (transparent) plug is messed up. Sometimes I've seen some deformed RJ-45s from factory. Some of them are so deformed that they either don't make good contact or even don't fit into the port. In this case you could try to use a different ethernet cable.

Also, see if something fell into to the ethernet port or got stuck to the RJ-45 connector and preventing the firm contact.
