I finally grew a pair a couple of days back and decided to flash my vBIOS to see if I could get higher clock speeds on my G51VX-RX05's GTX 260M.

See An Optimization Guide for the Asus G51 for details on how.

    All speeds below are "core/shader/memory".

    Before flashing (0.95V):
Max stable overclock (through the Control Panel): 590/1475/950 (I didn't mess with the memory clock much).

    After flashing to:
    0.95V - Max stable - 600/1525/975 MHz
    1.0V - Max stable - 600/1525/975 MHz

Looks like the GPU never actually gets more than 0.95V through the voltage regulator, even though the BIOS has been flashed to allow 1.0V at the 'Extra' clock speed.

But, according to the Guide, decreasing the voltage in the BIOS actually has an effect (lowers temperatures and makes the card less stable at higher-than-stock clocks).

I had similar trouble with my T9600 when I tried taking its voltage above the stock 1.263V to 1.275V (it undervolted to 1.200V just fine).

    What gives?

    tl;dr -
    GPU voltage stuck at 0.95V
