hi everyone. Does G51VX-RX05 (bestbuy) support Q9100 CPU?
I don't like A1 full hd screen in 15.6 inch. Text is too small for me.
I prefer to upgrade P7350 to Q9100, but I am not sure if works or not.

As of now, no, there is no known quad support. It is possible that it will take a bios update in the future, but that is just speculation. for now, do NOT buy a quad core processor because right now, it WILL NOT work. If you wanna be safe, and want a quick upgrade, your best bet it to go with pretty much any high-clocked dual core processor.

Well....just don't be too optimistic about a BIOS update possibly fixing it in the future. Forge updated his bios to the same one that the quad capable reseller versions had and it wouldn't work.

I saw Forge RX05 with [email protected]. (Asus G51vx-FMX (Forge Mod Extreme [based on RX05])
Will it be the safe upgrade??

As safe as a warranty voiding upgrade can be.

I've had the X9100 chugging along for a couple of weeks. No problems other than a some increased heat.

Frankly, though, unless you're doing heavy encoding work--in which case a quad-capable computer would be much better for you--the X9100 is overkill. The X9100 is only for personal bragging rights, and since people have QX9300s in their A1 laptops, I've been outdone.

I've been actually toying with the idea of selling the X9100 and replacing it with a cooler-but-still-quite-fast P9700, but I figure the hassle isn't worth it at all.

Forge, can you tell me your g51vx temperature? Does it go up a lot after you replaced CPU?
I found X9100 is cheaper than P9700 in ebay.

(sorry about my english :D )

A couple of degrees here and there. Nothing extreme.

But I do undervolt, so maybe that's why.

Like Forge says, X9100 for bragging rights, P9700 for awesome performance for less money.

~350 dollars isn't exactly "less money," but meh. I'd just get a good overclocker.

No, Quad supposedly won't work. Best bet is a T9900 or something along those lines... I'm running a T9300 that I had sitting around, and works great. But, it's only 2.5ghz, if I was actually going to buy something to upgrade to, go for a faster Core 2. Will say, with my T9300 overclocked to 2.9ghz, there is a noticeable improvement over stock on some games, so CPU upgrade isn't a terrible idea.
