Good afternoon everyone
I have this irritating problem with my G51VX (Best Buy Version).
Sometimes the laptop loses sound in the speakers. I mean, totally gone. I have uninstalled drivers, re-installed. Changed the default to the HDMI and back. I keep the speakers on default sound unless I HDMI it to my tv.
The sound will work fine if I hook it up using HDMI. Go back to speakers.....nothing. I cant figure it out. It's driving me insane. The only fix I can find is to shut the thing down, get angry and come back.....magically, it works again.
I'm also having an issue with screen brightness. There are times when I cannot change the brightness at all on the screen. It is stuck on max and cant be changed. I try and use the hotkeys, I try and use Power4Gear and I also try and use the Windows brightness slider. NOTHING. I think I experience it more after I run Crysis (I run Crysis in DX9 on very high).
What the HECK is going on with this thing?!?!?! The sound is the most annoying thing!

The brightness issue you either changed the drivers and didn't install them properly, or the new drivers just didn't have the capability for the brightness control.
IF! you didn't change the drivers, then try reinstalling the ATK hotkey drivers from your disc. If indeed where the drivers, be sure to use drivers that work, like Dox 185.85 and install them properly by uninstalling correctly using driver sweeper etc.
As for the sound issue... right click the sound properties, and make sure that the sound from your speakers is being chosen as the default. When you connect via HDMI, the sound changes to HDMI output, and your speakers become useless.
That is all I can think of. -
Ok. Installed 196.XX and it stopped working. Installed 191.00 and it worked. Just played Crysis. Now it stopped working. Restarted computer and brightness works again. Sound is GONE. Sound works in ExpressGate and it wont work in Vista again.
Restarted and restarted and restarted. No sound at all through built in speakers. Getting really Pizzed. -
Use the realtek drivers from their website.
