I have a G51VX-RX05 that I bought as a refurb and since day one I've had issues charging it. It's been through two RMAs and I wanted to see if this is common to G51VX or if mine still has an issue. When it charges and hits 100% it will only be 100% for a short time then it will drop to 99% and say Plugged in - Not Charging, and continually drop 98%... 97%... The only way to get it back to 100% is to shut it down and remove the battery and put it all back together, then the same thing starts over. The repair center claims to have replaced the motherboard (which I believe because after the first RMA Windows was deactivated and said it was an illegal copy.. you would think they would re-activate windows before shipping), the battery, and the AC adapter. I know they are lying about the AC adapter because there was a unique scratch on the top of the adapter and the one they sent back has the identical scratch. So my main question is all other RX05 owners, do they all drop charge levels and say "Plugged in, Not Charging"? It also behaves the same way under the Vista x64 that came with it and Windows 7 x64.

Could anyone with a RX05 check this? I want to go back to ASUS if this is a real issue.. my Gateway FX doesn't do this...

Sometimes my battery will get stuck at 95%, charging.
The vast majority of the time, though, it's at 100%. -
It's normal for batteries to stop at 99% and not reach 100%, especially for a refurbished battery.
Keeping the battery in when the laptop is tethered to a power outlet will gradually decrease the batteries capacity, because the laptop will constantly try to "top up" the battery, checking it every once in a while. Remove it if you don't need it, that way you'll ensure better capacity over time.
Mine is stuck at 99%, i have a refurbed one too. I leave it on the shelf, or somewhere cool and dry, so it maintains its capacity when I really need it. -

Windows Vista / 7 will prevent the battery from charging if you plug it in and the battery has > 95% charge. It will then say '96%, not charging'.
Run HWMonitor to see your battery's Designed Capacity vs Current Capacity.
This is not a problem, and is only to prevent, like someone else said, the constant topping up of battery charge.
