    Hey Everyone,

I'm probably going to be buying a G51VX-RX05 within the next week for school and follow Sunny's recommendation and update the processor to a quad core Q9100. I was just wondering if the GPU is upgradable in this laptop. I know most are not, but on xoticpc they sell a few in which the GPU can be removed and upgraded. It's not a big deal if it can't since the graphics card in side should be sufficient for a good while, but I was just curious. Half the fun in getting a laptop is upgrading it yourself.

EDIT: Just searched and it's called MXM, which ASUS has apparently adopted. Still wondering if this laptop is compliant though.

Asus has there own type compared to others, Asus's GPU's are reversed looking and therefor wont work in other laptops, If you could find a better GPU for that model and it was an Asus then it would probably work.. I believe the GTX 260m is the best one they have out for a 15'' laptop, even the 17'' have GTX 260m's besides the W90 which has the 4870x2's

It may be possible if Asus releases GTX 280Ms but you would be an idiot for trying to do so.

The G51 already has high temps with the 260M. Throw in a much more temp intensive 280M and you'll fry your GPU in no time.
