Will the G51VX-X2A continue to download while it is in hibernate/sleep mode? I need to download some files but I'm not comfortable leaving it on overnight. How long can it be left on without damage? Maybe I'm just being overprotective

I've torrented stuff for 10+ hours with the lid closed. No sweat.

LOL. This is funny. When you put it to hibernate or sleep, your downloads will NOT continue. Hibernation saves your computer state (programs, info, etc) into a hibernation file and turns it off. When you turn it back on it loads the hibernation file and resumes windows. Sleep just puts the system into a low power state and saves your info into RAM, which means you lose your data if you lose power.

I've had my laptop run for 3 days straight downloading After Effects plugins and tutorials. 40GB of After Efftects stuff is a pain >_<.

My Zalman, underclocked/undervolted CPU, and vBIOS kept things nice and cool.

Heat makes LCD panels fade faster.

I just leave the screen up and let it time out at 30 min. Never had a problem with my lcd fading.

Sorry, my post was a response to Forge. He leaves his screen closed when downloading adult torrents. Heat causes the chemicals inside the LCD to deteriorate over time, which gives the display a washed out look if improperly cared for.

I leave my G51 running 24/7 and I've always done this with all my laptops. When I go to bed, I click on FN+F7 to shut off the display while the laptop is still on.
