well you guys have answered all the questions i have had over the last couple of weeks about the g71(bb) and the g51 and now that my money will finally come in tomorrow and those models are sold out i am looking to go the extra cash and get the g51vx-x2a (I'm very impatient). So i have a couple of more questions to ask and hopefully this will be the last time i post here on my desktop.
g51vx-x2a- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220577
1. Does the g51vx-x2a come with windows 7 upgrade? i dont see it posted on newegg
2. I have read a couple of posts on here about quads in the g51 and i'm just wondering if this model will be able to be upgraded to a quad?
3. And finally i have found post saying that with the screen resolution 1920 x 1080 will be bad for gaming with lower fps then the BB models. How much of a difference would that be? i am looking to play games such as fallout 3 and GTA, will this greatly affect my gameplay?
I thank you for your time and answers i know i have only contributed questions to this forum over the weeks but you guys have been very helpful.

1) I would think so. Note that it is not a free upgrade but you get to upgrade at a reduced price (around $50 I believe)
2) Noone knows for sure yet. Someone will have to open up their laptop and check the motherboard revision number.
3) Running at 1080p might make it unplayable with everything maxed out due to the greater load as well as increase GPU temps. If that occurs, just drop the resolution down to another one with the same display ratio and everything should be fine. -

1. as long as you buy it from now on, then it is, $30-$50 for shipping a windows 7 DVD AFAIK.
2. it used the same mobo as G51Vx-A1 so it's compatible, but you have to take your own responsibility since warranty would be voided from then on.
3. for fallout3 and GTA4, i don't think that it can handle such at that resolution with maxed settings. Anyway, you wouldn't notice the difference if you use the other res that 16:9. Plus, you can always change the res to stretch the res or keep it originally as it is (normally, with my current weak machine, I play games with 640x480 res, looks like a cigarette pack on my screen with a huge black border around but I preferred it).hope that help.

thank you for your quick responses and just to clarify the screen resolution question
If i drop the resolution to another 16:9 it will still be full screen and play games at max settings no problem?
I'm sure this is an easy to grasp concept but i just want to make sure before i spend a lot of money for a gaming laptop that wont play games well. and again thank you for your responses and help -
Dropping the resolution will still keep it full screen. Just make sure its the same ratio or everything may look really funny

spend an extra 200 and u get a quad core a nice mouse and back pack and an extra hard drive also a free windows 7 upgrade

The problem with that thinking is that there will always be something slightly better thats slightly more expensive, so I would get to the G51VX-A1 and then suddenly I'll look at some alienware or something with dual gtx 260s and think: "well, its only 200 more dollars!"
Damnit, I've just gotta be happy with what I can get!!
Oh, and I'm pretty sure every new laptop that has at least Vista Home Premium comes with the free upgrade to Windows 7, considering thats something Asus(and every other manufacturer) is doing...unless I am mistaken about that? -

Trust me, I know. -
If it were me, I would choose the reseller version (one with the quad core CPU, bag + mouse). -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Well, the X2A is a reseller version, too. Looks like a Newegg exclusive, though.
