Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can see, the only difference between the G51Vx and G60Vx is the panel. Everything else seems to be identical. Am I missing something?

A few shops over here in Australia are now advertising the G60VX-JX004K with a Q9000, 4GB DDR2, 2x320GB HDD and the 16" LED "HD" panel. (I'm still waiting on confirmation that "HD" means 1366x768).

It's pricey at ~AU$2,900 (~US$2,250), but that's about par for the course for the Australian market. I'd prefer to buy from GenTech or XoticPC when it starts shipping Stateside where the price is more likely to be ~US$1,500.

yes you are correct. the g60 with a q9000 has a full hd resolution of 1920x1080, which makes it pricey. its the equivalent to the g60vx-a1 if it released in N. America

I'm actually inclined to believe that the advertised HD panel is in fact a 1366x768 resolution screen.

From the Asus Global site, the only panel indicated in the specs for the G60Vx is:
    "16" HD (1366x768) LED backlight,Color-Shine (Glare-type)"

I've seen UK Previews of a G60Vx with a 1920x1080 display, but specs change...

I've seen somewhere on the net (sry can't find it now) with the G60 having a Q9000 cpu,1920x1080 16" screen, 4gb DDR3, blueray drive and a 320gb SSD! The specs do seem to change but I hope there is a model with these specs coming.

We should know for sure in mid Sept the latest.

I do not believe 320GB SSDs exist yet.

They have definitely mistakenly written SSD instead of HD.

It claims that you can upgrade to 1 TB SSDs which is impossible since they haven't even been announced or released yet.

So the chasis is the same size as the G51s except a 16 inch screen with a smaller lcd bezel?

I actually hope so. It would be easier to put in a new screen then redesign the chassis. I'm still deciding on the g51vx a1 but I kinda like the white mecha look now.

The white lid is part of why I bought the BB one. I also planned on buying an external monitor and sitting the laptop on a custom cooler on the side of my desk so it's a half a desktop lol

Yep, got my external 16:9 ratio monitor ready to go last week. Now just need the G51 or G60 to show what it can do. :D
