The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.
Perhaps, but let's count the deficiencies compared to standard G70, shall we?
Only a 1 year warranty (Asus direct is 2yr w/ 1yr ADP and 30 day zero bright dot), T8100 cpu (vs 9500/x9000), XGA+...that's the budget line F7 screen res (vs uxga), no Blu-ray reader or apparently even bluetooth, Vista Home Premium 32b (vs Ultimate 64b), plus you pay sales tax with BBuy making the total cost at least $2250 in most states. It does manage to keep the dual HDDs and dual 8700gt gpus, though.
A fair description I think would be to say this is a completely stripped down model for those who want a 17" Asus system but don't want the bling of the current G2 series, but you get more in terms of components and OS with the G2s right now from the resellers here for ~$100 less than the BB list price, and no tax.
