I've never been a fan of the G1/G1S/G2 etcc but I think it was because of the green/red lights. The G70SG has to be the best looking of the 3 though.

Rep is given to those who deserve it :p Finding a translation of something that was already pretty much readable isnt deserving enough. Sorry

One think I dont like is the screens; in light they are like mirrors ( as you can see above ).

This wont be that much of a sucess because the P-7811FX is still the bang for the buck. Im guessing, this G70 will be in like the $2 000 range..

it will be more i say between $2500-$300 but look at this comparison i posted a while ago between the two and think about it:

"i understand where youre coming from but think about it:

    p8400 vs t9400 = win Asus
    200gb vs 620gb = BIG WIN Asus
    Blu Ray = Win Asus
warranty = Asus raping gateway(2 year warranty with one year accidental included)

those are actually some huge differnces the processor is like a $200 difference the hard drive is like a $350 difference and the blu ray is a $250 difference and warranty another $250 difference when you add it up you come to an additional $1050 plus the current price of the gateway it would be $1450 + 1050 = $2500 which would still undercut it yet people dont even know how much it will cost i can't see why this laptop will cost more then the current g70S at 2799.99 then you factor in things like build quality honestly i think id rather go for the Asus but that's just me"

Heh looks that they use the horrible reflectiveness of glossy screens as a marketing tool now, to reflect cloudy skies and trees. :) Making the best out of the worst, I see.

SLI 9800gts, nice. It will keep you warm on cold winter nights.

you also have Bluetooth. I think the Asus will also have a fingerprint reader, but don't count on it. The HDD is 640GB, not 620GB, but remember, the Asus' HDD is 5,400 RPM. I do, however, remember someone on NBR saying something about the 320GB 5400 HDD being just as fast, if not, faster than the 200GB 7,2000 HDD. I don't know though...

Wow that thing is sweet looking!

Plus it has the high end card in it. Wow I would love this unit. But wonder how high the price is??

I do like that baby blue to the neon orange of the G50 its a bit more subtle.

In the past Asus hasn't put integrated fingerprint readers in their G series notebooks. :( If they did it put it in G50/G70's then I'd pick one up for my next notebook. :p

Something that is odd about the G50/G70 is half the sites I've seen list it as having a swivel webcam, and half don't. My guess is that the this G70SG will be like the the one reviewed by Ken of GenTechPC and not include it either.

The above is correct because of data density; The platters are 'thicker' so the head has to travel less distance to read the same amount of data.

    When? When? When? When?

This is everything I have wanted in a laptop!!

    When is it coming out?

    WUXGA 17 inch = Check
    Numberpad on keyboard = Check
    Dual hard drives = Check!
    9800M or equivalent = Check!

    Whoohooo!

And it SHOULD be available in Australia as Asus normally is!

I was going to buy this week either an M570TU or Asus M70VM ($$value being the deciding factor) but this has it all.

Does anyone know anything more about this?

    Any resellers heard anything?

Is that really SLI or just a single 9800M?

OK. If that is an actual photo that implies it's not far away from being available. It also means it's going to be expensive - SLI expensive. Oh well. I was hoping it would have a single 9800M in it.

It's back to being the perfect laptop again then! :)

I just need it available this week with a single 9800M GTS (cheapest 9800M but still great) - single 250 GB drive but with a second HD bay so I can install my own second HD, Vista Ultimate 64 bit all for under $3000AU.

The G71V is pretty OK for the price for what you get IMO....however, a couple hundred more gets you a Sager 'monster' :p

That Sager 'monster' is really just a 9800M GT video card, and you end up with less hard drive space and probably a bunch of other smaller stuff. A couple hundred more for that, yeah it's still worthwhile cause you get the 9800 beast, but i'm leaning more towards the total package of the G71v currently.
