So, for the last few months my wife has been enjoying her G71, but recently a small but annoying problem has developed. While the button still responds, the button no long clicks; in fact, aside from the response in windows, you can't really tell you have pressed it at all. The right button still works just fine, and we can't figure out why it is doing it. We have tried canned air, but everything under there is clean/
So, has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how long did Asus take to fix it? I believe this should be covered under warranty, but since this is her only computer, we really don't want to be without it for long. Any advice would be great!

Wow that really sucks. I have a Razer Mamba and barely use the synaptics pad and right and left buttons on the G71. I have noticed that my left button is easier to push down than my right button. Because of your post I will cease to use those buttons and save myself the hassle of utilizing the warranty. I'm sorry that I couldn't have been more helpful.

I had this happen on a G1 some time back. I pretty much never used the click, as I opted to just tap the touchpad to do clicks. It eventually stopped working. Something probably got stuck underneath it. I sent it in for warranty work and they replaced the membrane or something. At least that's what the printout said when I got it back. Asus is usually pretty good about turnaround times, so if it really bothers you, send it in.

If its under 1 year old take it back to best buy, ASUS is considered DEVO (bestbuy cannot fix them therefore they have to exchange) if they send you to geek squad ask to process the exchange and mention it being DEVO and enjoy your new one =)
I can double check if yours qualify(im sure it does) if you have your recipe information you can PM it to me to verify
-Cheers!
G71 (BB version) - Left mouse button lost its "click". Am I the only one?
