Does anyone know what model screen this laptop takes? I'm trying to find a 1920x1200 replacement screen. There are many cheap LED 1920 screens on ebay but I have no way of knowing if they'll work.

If anyone that has a bestbuy G71 knows what screen is in their computer, please let me know.

yep, that's what I needed to know, thanks.

Now I just need to dig up a list of screens that would be compatible replacements.

That screenshot looks really good. Perfect size for 17" imo. However I still want to know about the screen replacment question asked. I mean I have a 22" 1080p monitor for the MBP in my sig, but its interesting for the future.

    What I've found so far:

This screen has been in production for a few years now.
This screen was actually found in the Gateway 7805u (ironically, info found in my own thread).

I can't be sure, but it's likely that this laptop will accept any screen that the 7805 also accepted. I'll dig and see if anyone upgraded their 7805 screens and which model they used.

There's a small chance that they couldn't use the same 1920 screen as the one built in by gateway. It's a very small chance though. Hope that helps so far.

    Yes, it's a 17". I think the 17.3" screens are 16:9.

Now I just need to find a brave soul that would be willing to try to put an LED screen in their G71.

Led wont work. The lcd connector is different. You would have to get a LED connector that fits the asus Mobo. I don't think that exists since asus doesn't offer LED pannels for that kind of mobo. Also you would need a different mount for the screen since led screens are a bit different in size. The screws are different too.

In my opinion the dual lamp AUO looks better and brighter than a wLED 17 inch. So you are in good hands in my opinion.

    Good luck with your project.
