inconsequential, in the end, i guess.

but i'm curious why there are two restore discs (1/2 and 2/2)?

reinstalling right now, and disc 2 hasn't been asked for. furthermore, they appear to have the same file structures/files ...

    anyone know why, what for?

It's the same as the G50. Came with 2 restore disks. I have no idea what the second one is for either and would like to know as well.

My G71V-Q1 came with two. When I had to do a system restore (1 week into it), it started with the first disk, but the second disk was where the majority of the "restore" was done. It then asks for the Driver Disk.

^ if you want to install the OS without the bloatware (Norton, etc.), you do a reboot when the Drivers Disk is requested. and then once you're on the desktop, you can run the drivers disc and install what you want using the ASUS drivers app. (just let it Autoplay.)

That's interesting. I've done system restores on both the G50V and G71V but it has never asked me for the second restore disk (only the drivers disk).
