Can you post the specs here? I don't think everybody is familiar with that.

Its the Quad Core 260M G71 dont know the rest of the specs but thats all thats important. As of the G51 its like its big brother.
-
Is the G71GX a 17" ?
Quad support does seem awesome -

set a preorder for it friday night, my first pick was the W90VP but I pulled out due to unpredictable wait time and problems.
-
The important question is, what kind of lighting will it be using? 2 ccfl or LED backlit? I'm not buying another notebook with a dim screen anymore. If its LCD is comparable to the old fujitsu lifebooks (previously owned) then I'd definitely order one.
-
Those Asus G7x series normally has dual lamp ccfl back lighting. They are pretty much the brightest ccfl screens around. Nothing to worry about there.
Does anyone know if G71x has backlit keyboard? -

That's disappointing. I was expecting backlit keypad...
-
I don't feel disappointed at all - I won't miss what i never had before! lol...
I'm excited about the GPU and placing my pre-order today. Ken is absolutley wonderful - GenTech 1-800-990-7945
My daughter gets my W90 for her video/photography and casual gaming.. The G71gx is what I was looking for all along to replace my G1s. -
You're a very generous <s>father</s> mother

she is a cool MOM not dad

is 2k the MRP? seems a bit pricey

Havent really compared to Sager MSI or Alienware but I doubt ASUS would come out the most expensive of its class on the market. -
Given that there's a quad core CPU, GTX 260M, dual HDDs and a bluray drive, $2k doesn't seem that bad at all. I remember I purchased my G71G-A1 with a C2D CPU, smaller HDD, 9800M GS and no bluray for $1800
-
Well I agree for all those options but I suppose there won't be a version without bluray or quad etc to lessen the price. Also it comes with some accessories I could do without like a "free" backpack and mouse which is probably just included in the price. Although it does have a dual lamp screen which is awesome though and an almost top end gpu which are the two pieces of hardware I've been looking for in a notebook.

Thank youI'd like to think I am a cool Mom! lol..
She has always got the hand-me-down computers - and now this w90 is a desktop replacement that has a bigger screen than her 17in flat panel on her desktop which is about 4 years old now.
...Plus it gets me out of buying the Macbook Pro that she originally wantedWhen she saw the W90 she was impressed at its features. It is a beast of a value, too.

The g71gx has decent reviews regarding the video card and that's what I'm looking for in the notebook first and foremost. -
@RMPG505
how much it was to pre order one? -

$2029 shipped. -
I've got a G71V-Q1 and this is pretty impressive. My wife has been asking me for a new laptop and am considering giving her mine and getting a new one. With the upgrade to the same QX9300 that is in mine would be about the same price as what I paid last year for my laptop. I would then get a GT 260M and 6GB of RAM (instead of 4GB). Hmm.
-
Anyone else notice that it does not have USB ports?
-
from the specs there's 4 usb ports. -

On a side note should a G72 be coming VERY soon? I think a new one will come soon and use the 17.6" display(seeing as 16:9 is starting with them)....just a theory. -
-
I spent 2400.52 with shipping, warranty and xp -
wow
u can get a W90 for that price... or a m17x.... -
way too much $$$, just get something cheaper unless you really need that gfx performance
-
The upside with the G71 though, is that there hasn't been a motherload of problems paired with it. W90 has been a trouble child since the beginning.
-knocks on wood-
G71GX - expected end of month - who's ordering?
