Would it be hard to upgrade Best Buy's G71GX CPU(Quad), and Screen(1080p/1200p)

For the quad all you'd just have to find another Socket P quad. It'll void your warranty, though. Unless you manage to not tear of the easily torn "Warranty void if removed" sticker.

The screen is already 1080p on the G71, isn't it?

No the G71GX-RX05 from BB is only 1440x900 resolution.

I would aalso know if a screen upgrade is possible and how difficult.

It's possible. You'll probably have the most luck buying a replacement screen for one of the reseller G71s.

How hard? I can't answer that as I don't own one. I'd imagine that if you practiced CAREFULLY removing your existing screen and putting it back on hen you'll be able to connect a whole different screen.

It's pretty hard to find replacement screens for G50s, G51s, G71s....

I've been searching for a while. If this helps, My G50 screen was made by chi mei. So first step to help out would be to find out what screen you have.

Go into device manager. Checj under monitor and it should say generic PnP monitor meaning plug n play monitor. Right click on that and go into properties. Go under the details tab and in the drop down list click on hardware ids. Mine says MONITOR\CMO1571
That means it is chi mei. If you paste it into google, you can find out what brand it is..

Oh, almost close to buying, that's why I asked if it would be possible. Thinking of upgrading the 260 to the 280m. Possible? Or should I keep on dreamin' lol!

There is no way as of right now. The 280M even if it works would probably overheat so badly that you'd have to undervolt and underclock it horrendously to prevent hardware damage.

Why? You can OC to exceed the stock clock speeds of a 280M in a laptop (which I guarantee would be underclocked anyway). After that there's of course the difference in pipelines, but when all is said and done the 260GTX is ALREADY overkill for any game currently out there; the 280GTX would be over overkill that you didn't really have to pay for.
