lol not twice friend im 100% sure its accurate here's why i did a price conversion according to what i calculated the quadcore g71v(a high spec version) will cost about $3800 usd!!!!!!! but american pricing is cheaper so you might be looking at about $3500 still quite expensive

quad is a waist in a laptop for most things, they would be better off using that extra heat cooling ability for a better gpu.

Intel isn't supposed to even release their quad Montevina cpu until late 4th qtr or early '09.

It may be in Asus' plan to drop one in as an option, but this isn't an imminent arrival/availability thing.

That second link is very interesting. Showing off 3 different versions of the g71v and 1 new version of the g70.

I'm most likely gonna go with the mid range g71v, since its basically a g50v with a 17" screen and in my price range.

The quad core g71v baffles me, why put in a quad core to almost double the price but still keep the 9700M GT? Makes no sense to me.

The last new model, the g70sg is the most interesting with a 9800m GTS but It will probably be around the $3000 range so I can't get it.

    Gateway p-7811FX has an nvidia 9800mGTS + DDR3 ram + 1920*1200 + latest intel processor (p series)

Only for 1400$.....believe it or not

I think these asus laptops are overpriced....

Its a gaming laptop people!! (means it should be as cheap as possible like gateway)...

I think the g70sg, if priced around the expected $3000, will be overpriced. But i dont think the g50v or the first two g71v models are overpriced.

There's a lot extra stuff in these laptops compared to the Gateway, which is really just a barebones laptop with an expensive gpu. But I do see what your saying, they are gaming models so why shouldn't they have a real high end gpu.

Not another gateway vs asus discussion...

its not apples to apples, the gateway is much lower build quality and lesser parts it only has the better gpu.

if you want something thats got some better parts and a better gpu the new Sager is nice but it will cost you more than the asus too.

i understand where youre coming from but think about it:

    p8400 vs t9400 = win Asus
    200gb vs 620gb = BIG WIN Asus
    Blu Ray = Win Asus
warranty = Asus raping gateway(2 year warranty with one year accidental included)

those are actually some huge differnces the processor is like a $200 difference the hard drive is like a $350 difference and the blu ray is a $250 difference and warranty another $250 difference when you add it up you come to an additional $1050 plus the current price of the gateway it would be $1450 + 1050 = $2500 which would still undercut it yet people dont even know how much it will cost i can't see why this laptop will cost more then the current g70S at 2799.99 then you factor in things like build quality honestly i think id rather go for the Asus but that's just me
