I already have a thread in the upgrade side of the forums but I feel the right people arent reading it, so I thought I would try here.

Purchased the G72GX from Best Buy and would like to upgrade its DVD drive to a Blu-Ray drive. I've found one on ebay that looks to be suitable but Im not sure Link

    If it is suitable.

How do I remove the current drive and fit the new one in place.

I have played around with it a little and found two screws on the underside of the laptop that appear to hold the drive however it still wont come lose :(

If the G72VX is like the G51VX:

    1) While the laptop is running, open the optical drive door.
    2) Power off laptop.
    3) Remove the 2 screws from the bottom of the laptop that secure the drive.
    4) Pull the optical drive out by pulling on the tray. You may have to pull hard but don't use too much force.
    5) After the optical drive is out, you may need to remove a mounting bracket from the old drive to put on the new one. Be very careful doing this and make sure you have the right tools to do it. A wrong phillips-head screwdriver can strip the head of the screws.
    6) To install the new drive, reverse steps 1-5.

    Good luck!

I removed the two screws that appear to hold the drive however it still wont pull out, Im using more then enough force to try and remove it. Any ideas what else could be holding it?
