I have had the G72 since it came out and I now have a dead pixel.

Does anyone know what ASUS stance is on one dead pixel. It's really annoying it's stuck on red.

Unless you have modified the laptop and voided your warranty, you should have a 1 year ASUS warranty with the BB model, that you could use to get that issue resolved. I would contact your closest ASUS Repair shop to get the process started.

I really dont know but I think Asus only offers a 30 day warranty on dead pixels, unless you purchased the year warranty on the screen seperately (I dont think Best buy even offers this option). I know a lot of companys will not fix a screen especially for one dead pixel. It does not hurt to try and contact them.

You have a stuck or lit pixel.. Download this and run this program for 20-minutes to up 6-hours ontop of the stuck pixel.. Make sure you turn off your screen saver. There are several methods to try to unstick it, this is the easiest and what i would try first. Good luck! :)

The pixel is stuck on Red. I guess that means it's not dead, it's just stuck.

    I will try the tool.

Will the screen burn in if I leave it on for 6 hours and run this?

The screen should not burn in. LCDs require a LOT more time than that to burn in, but if you're worried, JScreenFix.com has an applet that works like badabing's pixel fixer, but you can press F11 to run the JScreenFix applet in full screen.

The warranty is actually 30 days for any dead or bright dot (Zero Bright Dot). After that, you're on your own unless the screen suffers multiple pixel failures beyond the specified minimum.

Here is what their warranty page says:

Basically I am screwed unless I get more dead pixels. The laptop isn't even 3 months old yet.

Sadly, that's fairly standard on LCD warranties, just because the chance of dead or stuck pixels developing after the first 30 days is so low (I'm very sorry you got "lucky"). Fortunately, stuck pixels are frequently fixable by the utilities like Badabing and I mentioned. Fingers crossed they will fix your stuck pixel.

I have been running the jscreenfix for about 40 minutes now. I pack up to head home soon. I will run it tonight and see what happens.

I don't really notice it when I play games, but it's still annoying.
