Hello All,
I have an X1 that has not shown any problems until the past couple days. Now my system seems to lock up and freeze after playing games for about an hour.
The system then requires a hard reset using the power button. From then on the system will crash after 5 to 10 minutes of playing. This led me to think it was a heat issue.
I have not had any issues with memory or CPU tests. My CPUID hardware monitor is showing the idol temp of the GPU at 64 degrees with just NBR in the browser.
A couple of the times the system has frozen up there was a odd buzzing from the left side of the keyboard. Another time the machine locked up with a black screen with vertical green lines. To round things out I also got a BSOD today with a machine check exception today.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Use MSI Afterburner to monitor in games temps while actually playing. You need to see what temps you GPU reaches during gaming sessions to make an accurate assessment.
Does your fan speed ramp up while gaming? Do they both sounds as though they are functioning correctly? I mean the CPU and GPU fans.
Do you have your laptop on a flat surface or elevated? It seems as though your GPU may be overheating. My GPU idles at approximately 60C. It goes to 85C while gaming. But, I always have my laptop elevated off the surface of the desk. It does drop temps 4 to 5C while gaming. Idle temps stay pretty much the same.
The buzzing sound could just be a short of some sort or speaker wiring issue. I'd push the machine hard and watch temps while doing it. -
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that and see what I can find.
