So bit by bit progressing in restoring my Win7 Asus g73jh, the newest problem is a bit more problematic though

I can't get Windows update to work on the cloned hard drive, which is a bit bigger than the original hard drive it was cloned from. I have attempted replacing chipsets but nothing's really taken. I keep reading about a solution called "intel rapid storage technology" but I was told that could potentially corrupt my system by being incompatable. My guess is the issue is related to the cloned hard drive not recognizing its new location... or something along those lines

This isn't the only issue unfortunately. I also can't reinstall my USB monitor, which always fails during the installation. I don't know if the issues are related at all, but I really need some direction here.

Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues. Based on what you explained, it could be a case where something may be wrong with the clone that was created. Have you tried doing a fresh install of Windows 7 or use Backtracker tool to create a recovery from the original drive?

Unfortunately a fresh install is not an option in this case, the laptop came with no CDs and the attempt to recreate what I had before just lead to a nonfunctional mess, which is why I resorted to having the failing hard drive restored and cloned in the first place.

Im not sure I follow what you mean by backtracker tool either.
