    Hi,

I have an Asus A8Js. When I unplug the notebook from a wall socket to merely move it to another place, I find that the video card fan sometimes never turns back on, causing it to overheat. It also has happened when I'd close the laptop (to go either into standby or hibernate), and then open it up again. Has anyone else experienced this?

Secondly, if this overheating has happened twice, is my video card more likely to crap out sooner?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Kris

Which version do you have? The 4S024P one? Where did you purchase it?

I got it at c9tech.com. I'm not sure of the version. If what you're looking for are specs...

    core 2 duo T7200
    nvidia geforce go7700
    2gb ram

As I was scouring where to buy it, I know that at some online retailers, they'd list the "version". At c9tech, they didn't.

I think you should either send it to support or open it to see whether something is in the way or not. Also, the nVidia drivers can control the behavior of the GPU fan, so check the drivers too.

I am pretty certain that in such a small chassis, there is only one fan - the one which cools both the CPU and GPU via heatpipes. Therefore the problem should be the only fan, maybe the sensor which controls it, in the chassis or inside the CPU/GPU, I don't know for certain. I guess you should indeed send it to support.
