    If you have a HLDS GSA-T50L DVD-RAM drive in your Asus G50v notebook, there is a firmware update (SR09).

    My model was shipped with SR04. The two improvements I have already noticed is that A) After POST, the drive does not freeze up the computer by seeking, and B) the drive no longer randomly freezes when it is being accessed.

    I know this is a few months late, but.. I'd stopped trying to find this firmware update several months ago. I was just looking for a new p4g update, and I happened upon this post somehow.. I just registered for this site, specifically to THANK YOU so.. SO SO much for posting this lol.. I had every single problem possible with this ODD, and... I am very happy that this shall take care of the issue. The only firmware update previously available to this one for this ODD was an HP OEM, and.. That did um.. NOTHING for my Asus lol. So, thanks again man.. I really appreciate it. :-D :-D
