    Greetings everyone.

I've been browsing and reading these forums for a couple of days because a friend of mine introduced me to Asus. I've recently had the Gateway FX P-7800 but I've found it way to big to be a mobile gaming laptop. I had trouble finding a bag that would fit it's size and I've just grown tierd of lugging it around.

My question is, as a sailor currently stationed in Japan on a ship that experiences some heavy seas from time to time, is this laptop mobile enough? I have read that it is bigger than your average 15.4" laptop and may require a 17" carrying case but it's the size difference notible from a regular 15.4"?

Any help or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the width prevents it from fitting in most 15.4" cases. 16" widescreen cases are few and far between now, although they will probably get more common soon.

It is the same exact case as the best buy 15.6" widescreen version, so you can check that out at best buy for real life comparison. You definitely notice the width difference. However, it does fit a very nice keyboard with numpad well.

Portable? Well yes and no. You need the AC adapter almost 24/7.

IM actually about to (restart) my battery test on watching a movie and then working on whatevers left over. The X5's 9 Cell gets 1 hour of crysis with everything cranked to the max and 1:20 with it on stock settings. The 9 cell is good for 2.5 to 3 hours of real world usage on battery though i will attempt to do a synthetic test to get past 3 hours.

The X6 has the 6 cell which should be enough for normal computer usage but gaming wont last much over 40 minutes at best.

Take a look at a decent targus bag for a 15.4 inch that has space to the side for a power adapter, and then just put the power adapter in the outside part of the bag. I tried it in my targus 15.4 inch laptop backpack and on the X6 it will fit depth wise perfectly but it sticks out about 2 inches and was worried about the corners getting scratch by the zipper. The X5 with the 9 cell barley fits depth wise. I haven't actually tried it but we have a targus bag for a 15.4 inch around here and i am almost certain it fits just fine if you put the power adapter sideways or elsewhere.
