I'm so impressed with my G71GX-A1. I just wanted to post some of my game experiences and get some comments and opinions going and have a reference point for anyone interested.
Fallout 3:
I'm late on the bandwagon for this game but wow, this game is amazing. It's a joy to play and the graphics engine is sick. I'm running whatever configuration the game suggested but I know it's 1920x1200 4xAA and the framerates are silky smooth and the graphics are beautiful.
Prototype:
Lots of fun. The controls are a little cumbersome sometimes on this game, partially because there are just so many freakin moves. This game is kinda like playing a superhero that's a combination of the Hulk, Spider-Man, and maybe Spawn. Graphics are pretty good and performance too, at 1900x1200 with no AA. Settings on highest except for shadows.
Crysis:
I still love this game. There are so many ways you can play through each level and the cheat codes add a lot more hours of fun to this game. I like playing through with different rules on myself, like only use this weapon or that weapon, and no stealth. Or crank up speed and health some and play almost the whole game with bare hands. Graphics are amazing and now I can play 1920x1200 with most setting son high and pretty good framerates. I haven't tested but I'm guessing 25fps, which is enough for Crysis.

Empire total war, everything on. NO AA max res on the g60
-
That's another one I want to try. I liked Shogun. But on Rome Total War I got stuck early on and lost interest. I like RTS games almost as much as FPS. I'm wanting to check out the newer Age of Empires and Dawn of War games, also.

I bought my G51 just so I could play X2 and X3 while sitting in the hotel room while on the road. (not allowed to play at home...thanks to wifey). And these two games used to tax EVERYTHING I owned until I built my desktop. But can't lug that around the suitcase...So bought the G51..and it runs them both flawlessly. Can't say how happy I am about that. Makes my trips go by SO much faster.

GTAIV - Had no idea if this could be played decently on a laptop and to my delight it runs very well! Not maxed by any means but settings are optimized quite high. I have the A1 quad core version OC'ed to 2.3ghz so I get very decent frames. Fun Fun game.
ArmaII - A very cpu/gpu demanding game. Runs quite decent but leaves a lot of room to turn up the settings. Excellent FPS military simulation game and really shines online. Can really heat up this machine so I would not run this without a notebook cooler. Still very playable on my g51 and goes for hours.
COD2 - I don't have the newer ones from the series yet but wow. This is the game that told me to get a new computer. Runs like smooth glass maxed out along with Battlefield 2 and other games of that era. 60 FPS Minimum if I play in 1440x900. Glorious performance!
World In Conflict - Not a big rts player except for a couple of the first popular ones way back. So I see it in a store with the russian/map expansion pack for $20 with the full original included. One of THE most graphically impressive games I've seen to date Period! It performs exceptionally well on my g51 with everything almost maxed. Even has options for laptops to save battery power if needed. A very well optimized game considering the amount of things happening on the screen and many options to tweak for performance. If your looking for a mini army-man type game for your g51 or g71/2, this is IT! Tactical nuclear device included. -
How is Fallout 3 on your computer? Do you have the newest patch and all DLC? I grabbed the newest patch and have all the DLC yet I couldn't play it. It froze about every 10-30 seconds and crashed my computer a couple times. I wanted to play the game so badly too, I was able to max out the settings (no AA though), good frames, addicting gameplay. I couldn't play it though, the newest patch (1.7) broke the game so badly that It would freeze and crash constantly in a couple seconds or minutes. What's sad is I like the game so much that I had to buy it for my PS3 and that version supposedly has more bugs, freezes, and crashes - yet I'm able to play the PS3 version for hours with no problems. Only hitched 3 times so far on my PS3 unlike me playing on my G71GX, which freezed and crashed all the time, I wanted to enjoy it on my PC (it looked better too) but just couldn't
...
Games I do recommend on the computer is Batman AA, Prince of Persia, Dragon Age Origins - my favorites right now at 60+ FPS!
I am also play Oblivion again, along with Mass Effect and Gears of War which all three run about 30- 40FPS.
Crystasis has really intrigued me but makes Crysis and GTA IV look like jokes when it comes to bringing a PC to it's knees. Alright /scary game with pretty unique graphics engine that heavily wants you to use Physx. -
Fallout 3:
I do have some random crashes but nothing horrible since it autosaves a lot. Usually get a couple of hours before a crash, sometimes 30 min. I would have expected PS3 to be a lot more stable since it's a controlled envoronment.
My dog died already, got tired of having to load save games so I just left him, but anybody know how to get the puppies that are supposed to be at Vault 101? Actually this last time I told him to go there and wait for me but don't see him anywhere.
Force Unleashed:
STABILITY PROBLEM. I played for an hour with no issues but when I got to the room with the force field around you that you have to disable, I started having massive slowdown issues. Even the audio stutters until you exit the game. Then it's fine again for a little while, but seems to be getting worse. Also seems worse in some areas but still time related. I checked my processor usage and it's high during the slowdown but not 100%. Also GPU and CPU temps are not high at all.
I didn't think this game was gonna be released on PC. I've been waiting for it since Jedi Academy. Runs a hair slow at 1920x1200 but still very playable when it works. Seems a lot of fun so far though. Menus are really clunky. Geared toward console games I guess. -

FYI: Downloaded FRAPS
Force Unleashed- 1920x1200 4xAA 30fps, Minimum 23 fps
Fallout 3- 1920x1200 4xAA 40-60 fps. Minimum 30 fps -
Time to get a new wife or grow a pair. -
Whats X2 and X3? Are those flight sims? -
that makes me think its the exact opposite..lol -
I frequently get a happy ending when I'm "not allowed" to play so who knows.
X2 and X3 are basically space ship RPG's as far as I can tell. You fly around the galaxy doing quests.
