I just ordered the Asus G1S last week. Is it safe and effiecent to game or even use the laptop while the AC adapter is plugged in? Will it damage my computer in the long run? I have heard that the CPU is affected in its performace when the AC is plugged in or is that problem solved?

Also, I don't understand when people say the computer is in battery safe mode or high performace mode. How do I switch between the two?

The laptop should perform perfectly with the AC adapter plugged in, but gaming on the battery might not be such a great idea.

The battery saving mode, does exactly what it says, it helps save battery life. The high performance mode gives the most power. There is a hotkey along the top of the keyboard to switch between different power modes.

The laptop will function great with an AC adapter plot has a charge under 90%. For some odd reason the performance is cut in 1/2 due to a bug, however it can be corrected in a future BIOS.

As for the Battery Save and High Performance modes, they are power profiles that determine the display brightness, the speed of the CPU/voltage, and other settings. You can change them with the hotkey button.

Obviously when you use the battery without AC you want Battery Save mode, and high-end gaming wouldn't be a good idea since the speed will be slower, and it will kill your battery fast.

With Battery Saving mode and the brightness set to 7% I get around 2 hours and 45 minutes of battery life. That can be lower depending on what you're doing.
