I just purchased my Z71v ( 1.86, 2 gigs ) over the weekend and have been trying to play Counter Strike Source on it. So far the results have been terrible. I've tried lower the resolution to something reasonable like 800 x 600 and turning down the detail settings. Still the game play jumps all over the place. This happens both on line and when I just set it up with bots. I'm familiar with playing the game on a desktop with an Nvidia 4600 card and it played fine. I'm going to try out a few other games and see what I get. Any ideas as to what I could try? Overall I think the laptop is great, but I do want to play games as well.
    Any help would be appreciated.

update the nvidia driver to a more recent one. Between the original driver that came with the laptop to the more recent ones, you are looking approx 200 or so boost in the 3DMark05 benches....

Look at www.notebookforums.com, there are a few people who uses Z71V to play CS, HL2, etc....they all get pretty solid results from it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I did download a newer driver...of course I can't remember which one. I'll try another and see if that solves the problem.
