You've got the same configuration as mine, except for the GB of the hard drive and version of XP. I've only tried HL2 and the BF2 demo, so far. Both run flawlessly at the highest video settings.

is that in the native resolution of this fiiiiine laptop?

Looks good, 2gb is overkill, you won't notice much but hey - at least you don't have to worry about the upgrade later

Yea its still too big, tried to make it smaller but it wouldn't be readable...
Had some complaints that it'd kill users at a 800x600 resolution -
hey we're all asus users (minimum res is 1024x768)... for the rest, well you're just encouraging them to upgrade, haha... looks great at 1680x1050...

I found the 'coriolis' cheesy but oh well lol
Did ris order it yet? -
alias names are meant to be cheesy.... i mean, come on, flaxx?! haha
anyway, i'm off to watch a movie, l8r. -
Coriolis, your sig looks great at 1400x1050 too
I'm sure "AuroraS" is cheesier than coriolis AND flaxx...combined!
...lol... I sound like a chick -
HAHAHA! dude, i thought u were a chick when i first met ya... remember we were suppose to meet up and show each other our rigs last year? I remember thinking "whoh, this chick sure is quick at wanting to see my 'computer' haha..." although my sister told me she knew were that one place u said u were always at was, i had no clue.... but you're now a 2nd year cs student, so i've probably walked past you dozons of times at dempster. There's a dude named scott (the guy with the audio problem with his z70v and how it plays with headphones and speakers) that's also on campus and i met him at a club meeting... it was wierd, cuz then he was all "YOU'RE FLAXX"?! haha, i was all "whoh... shhhhh, only online people know me by that".. haha.
-
LOL, yeah... he mentioned that he met you.
Btw, I'm a SCIENCE student, not a cs student...that stuff got way over my head once I learned about C++ in high school. Pascal and Java I could handle...but C++ was just too much; which is why I choose to go into pre-med/microbi...heh
Yea, I hang out at Yum Yum's a lot... if you (or your sister) see a chinese guy with an M6 there, it's probably me. -

LOL... FBI, in CANADA?
Wrong country, I believe...what's our version of the FBI called? CSIS? I don't remember...
-
oh and coriolis, did your z70va come with bluetooth? (did they fix the demand problem and do all of them come standard with it?) -
Actually, I'm still awaiting for it LOL!
The z70va with preinstalled BT is in, but not the BT itself as of yet...
And pffttt, CSIS! Go Mounties! -
cool. and when you underclock your GPU does your fan turn off or does it stay on all the time? What's the GPU temp during idle?
and the CSIS sounds more like the CIA.. our FBI is probably is the Mounties, (they look so much color with the flaring pants and all the red) -
Don't forget the horses!
I manually control the fans, so I can set it to whatever I want if need be. The GPU temp right now(Photoshop/Azereus/FoxFire/IRC) is 53 degrees....
HD is at 47 and CPU is at 35 though, weird.. -
oh yeah. so you have the gpu fan off and it's staying at 53?
-
The fan is on, actually
Don't know why it heats up so much even though its not in use... -
oh weird... what's the RPM? on my z71v (stock cooling, which is crap) it's currently running at 60 deg C (CPU: 45, which is pretty high, wierd.. maybe bittorrent uploads) and rpm is 3500 on GPU (cpu fan is off) which is pretty fast, so i can hear a bit of air moving if i turn off my music, but generally it runs at around 3000rpm which you can't really hear (it no louder than the hard drive, and much lower pitch). I peak 90-93 deg C (UT2004 after an hour) with stock clock. I think my fan kicks in at 50 deg C.
Wanna try turning off your GPU fan and seeing where it goes? If i turn my fan off, it'll go up into the high 70's but not exceed 80. You said your peak was high 70's, so i'd expect you wouldn't exceed 70 deg C. Setup an event though, so you don't forget (i.e. a beep if it exceeds 80, so that if you start up a game forgeting to turn on the fan it'll beep at you like crazy. Forgetting to turn it back on would be BAD!)
The reason i'm asking all this is i'm really interested in maybe selling my z71v and getting a z70va, since you've reported such long battery longevity, amongst a few other reasons.
Gaming: How will this set up perform? Z70va
