I was wondering what "brand" Gentech uses for their RAM and Harddrives when you configure a C90 from their site and choose the "no name" parts. I assume they're quality parts and they test them before they leave the building (memtest or make sure it's compatible and working with the c90 before it leaves?) I ask if it's tested only because I plan on using Windows XP and already have the cd so I chose no operating system. I just want to make sure everything is in good working order before I get my system.

I suppose it doesn't much matter if I purchase the 3-year warranty though...

Add Crucial 2GB stick to incompatible list for C90S, we tested it today and it didn't work.

I have not got a 2+1 to work with corsair, gskill, or ocz. Only 1+1 works on mine aswell unless im willing to use only the power cord.

    Hey einhander,

PLease try them both when ur plugged and on battery power... My problem is exactly what vicious has... when using a single 2gb stick ( it freezes and locks up .on battery power ) I have no problem running on 2 pcs 1gb sticks...

isnt it time that ASUS does something to fix this RAM problem ? To have people experiment on their PC's, and for the resellers to do extensive testing, and then produce a result which does not always work is really becoming annoying... Seems to me getting the c90 is like a game of luck. some work and some just dont...

    so cancer,

ur 2gb+1gb config is working on battery power ???? can u please confirm this ? i think majority of the problems are with the 2gb+1gb config... so far I have the same RAM problem as vicious...

Also, i checked on the ASUS website for compatible RAM sticks... none of it indicates ANYTHING at 2gb... this is really strange.

I have 1*2GB stick of Transcend memory. Seems to work fine for me, however, I haven't tried Turbo Gear.

yeah im actually thinking about changing to 2x1 gb config. my brothers have their laptops coming (an s96s and a z84jp) both with 2 gb or ram if any of those sticks is 1 gb nanya then ill trade in my kingston with any of them... sigh i feel sad about it though...

maybe the new bios will be out before they arrive

... really even the same ram brands??? (2gb Kingston + 1gb Nanya)

Im on bios 704 since on bios 502 it wont even start on battery. Basic response form Ken (gentech) is to wait for new bios to fix things.

Yup... I got mine from gentech as well. Same 2gb kingston + 1gb nanya.
My C90s came with the 402 bios (worked just fine) and I updated it to 502 a week ago (which also works perfectly).
    Very weird....

well at least these forums really help...
So far, 2gbx1pc sticks that are confirmed to work are :
    1.) kingston ( although not 100% --- since cancer's config is not working... )
2.) and transcend (as stated by deserteagle) So to the would be C90 owners: pls. try to get these brands as much as possible while we are still waiting for the BIOS fix.
For now, all we can do is wait... ( and wait... and wait... )

I also heard that theres different revisions of conroe processors... if the ram its the same then i might be that i have a different processor with incompatibility issues (please god let it be that and not a bad mobo)
