    I just noticed on their site if anyone is looking to get the G1 with XP instead of vista they offer it under their customize operating system instead of Vista only.

    Bogus part is..

    Pro = add 145$

    XP home = + 75.

    Too bad its not less than vista.. ie. Subtract 145$ :)

    Well, In my case, I was disappointed with Vista on the G1... At least on the 3D Gaming front. So I ended up "upgrading" to XP Pro. :p

    NVidia go 7700 drivers are not optimized yet for Vista, so you will really see a big performance hit when playing games under Vista.

    I think they charge extra because the G1's they sell already have Vista and need to downgrade to XP, so they need to charge some money.

    I know for a fact that downgrading to XP may not as easy for everyone (you know, partitioning the HDD, install the OS, download the correct drivers, install them, etc..) so if you think of it, it's not that expensive for some. ;)

    P.S.- Also, for some reason my battery lasted much less under Vista (under the same power scheme) than with XP Pro, so there's another thing to consider. ;)

    Cheers!

    It was request by some customers to offer XP.
    It's not downgrade or upgrade, it's a seperate full version XP CD and you still have the Asus Vista recover disk.
