Really perplexed about this one... with the touchscreen win8 ultrabooks be out this fall or next year? Need a thin and light but not thrilled about getting one and multi-touch being out on them a couple months later. What does everyone think?

I'm also a bit torn between waiting. Windows 8 should be retail in October, so I assume the latest the touch refresh would be out is in November.

Win8 devices should start coming out in Q4, soon after the OS launch, because a lot of them were already announced at Computex with working prototypes.
I would say if you can wait a few months with the purchase and if you are interested in using a touchscreen on a laptop, wait for the new machines to come out. -
Im interested in a touchscreen device, really like the asus transformer book with its tablet + keyboard dock model.
That said, things have gotten really mobile for me lately and carrying around my g73sw is a royal pain. The rend result is I usually just take a tablet and forego getting any real work done.
I develop so want to support touch screens at some point but am really missing having a machine with me. So Ive been going back and forth. Thought about picking up a cheap $699 toshiba ultrabook to hold me over but for a bit more i could get a ux31a.
Get a UX31a or wait for the Win8 touch screen version?
