So, newegg emailed me and said that they fixed it and are giving me the same laptop back, with a fixed heatsink. I guess i'm happy to get it back, but, i could have just sent it to asus my self and gotten it back in a week from the day i sent iti still have another 10 days till i get it i'm told... And, now its been about 2.5 weeks since i paid, and by now, i would ahve just waited 3 weeks and see whats up with the n81... idk, im both happy and pissed at the same time

Hmm. i just realized something.
I'm not able to claim a manufacture warrenty, because it was already claimed now... meaning if i have a problem in the future (accidental warranty) i can't claim it (i verified this with asus and was told i should have gotten it replaced rather than fixed, which is what i thought they were doing).
This sucks!!!
also, the Asus guy made a point, i should not take a laptop that needed fixing after the first hour of use, xD -
Sounds like you got boned.
-
EDIT: online chat = 1hr wait, already on the phone (took about 2 mins xD)
EDIT: I was told by Exmeralda that I will be refunded, but she could not give me a 100% guarantee. Quite odd, but i took down her name and email, and then sent an email replying to the one i received saying that she said i will get a refund, and that i better be getting a refund, because i talked to asus and ect... -
Yeah if you don't get some sort of compensation, that would be the dumbest thing ever.
-
I want them to do something already(that is in a good direction)

thats awesome at getting a refund! Now you really can get that N81
-
I went through Asus to fix my RMA x1. They asked me if I wanted and A1 or my X1 back, I chose the A1. I also am going to get my X1 MIR even though I had to send it out like 4 days after it ended, ASUS has great customer support. So I got an A1 for 750 bucks, pretty sweet deal. Sorry for your bad luck hope you get your money back.

because something fishy is with the "i can't guerentee 100% but if you reply to that email saying you want a refund one will be granted" -
Newegg is an amazing company...
Today i was told that the previous few reps lied, and there is no possible refund or replacement.
I was told that repair was presented to me (And they showed a return policy and chat logs that said nothing of the sort).
After 1 hour of a rep that also insaulted me stating "can you read?"
and then another 1 hour of a supervisor, who continued to reassure me that the other reps were wrong, and the return policy was incorrect.
I did, infact, have proof from chat logs and such that i was offered a refund, and she still denied me.
Durring this hour, i created a paypal dispute.
Whether it was the dispute that she saw (unlikley) or my proof of the fact, i was offered a refund, less 15%.
Then, i argued a little more, and continued to resite my proof that it was offered, and got her to offer me a refund.
So, hopefully they will hurry the f**k up and get me my refund, so I can be cleaned of Newegg's filth.
Last time I order from them.
Ever.
Regardless of how good of a "deal" it its.
Their service really declined over the past 2 years...
I sure hope to God i do not get an email saying "oops, the rep from yesterday was wrong like the one from the day before!"
then again, that would spell class action lawsuit
jk
So yea...
now i need to find a new cheap laptop/computer part reatailor xD -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
you should have bought from genntech they would have taken good car of you.
-
xoticpc?
-
Yea, the only reason i did not go xotic was price... the n80 would have been only $750 for me if it would have came working...
My next laptop will be xotic or gentech (actually, maybe amazon, because i'm eyeing this $1,300 MSI) But you can't beat the gentech and xotic support (i'm so told)
-
I don't really need support. I need customer service.

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
awesome choice though -
-
Haha, hooray for newegg!
today i get an email saying that they are refunding $714... wth?!
ill kepp adding to this... -
15% restocking fee?
-
And yea, i reviewed the chat logs, and the said
"Sir, I will go head and process the RMA as a refund for you. As a exception I can go head and waive haf of the restocking fee charges. Please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to appear back into your account."
Yes, i missed that, and that is my fault, but her acceptance of it lead me to believe she had accepted my offer of no restocking fee...
Which frankly, i shouldn't have to pay because i was offered a refund or replacement, and restocking fee was never mentioned there, and if she would not have deceived me (yes, partially my fault) i would have kept going until she agreed with me.
Also, now that i closed the paypal dispute after i saw that, i can't reopen it, so i'm at the devil's mercy now
EDIT:
YAY!!!!!
I talked to a rep today, and he said he really couldn't do much, because the supervisor was busy (i had to leave the original chat rep earlier, and called about an hour a go), and then i just got a call from "Nina" who was very nice, contrary to the rep that insulted me, and she said that she will be issuing the $714, then a $60, then $70 credit (which is still $5 short, but i'm done arguing, and i diddn't notice that till i actually calculated it out right now)
so, all's well that ends well, i guess... still not buying from newegg again.... but still... -
Good for you aan310. I'm glad everything worked out
And like Red Dragon mentioned earlier, I'd strongly suggest going through GenTechPC if you decide on buying an Asus in the future. -
-
oh how convenient.. I come across this thread a DAY after I've already ordered an Asus from newegg... Well wish me luck I guess :-\
Oh and another thing, how will I know If i have the same problem as you... what is a heat sink problem? -
But, i ahve heard nothing about the x5s having this problem, but i ahve heard of many x1s(what i had) with this problem -
Flip a coin. Mine has none problem.
-
aan310 just got Banned.
0v0" -
may I ask why?
-
Probably bad language.
-
ahh ok. o_o
-
Just a temp ban, I hope.
-
Yep, only a temp
-
Wow. Im shocked you had such trouble with newegg. I've had nothing but good things to say about them. Don't mean to hijack the thread but I've ordered many things through them. I recently had problems with two g.skill hard drives. Both times I was able to get a replacement with no problems. I'm now on HD#3. Isn't Asus supposed to backup their product without a middleman? I would think they would have done something to make you happy. Well best of luck with your future lappy =)
-
Also, asus would have repaired it and gotten it back to me in 5 days (including shipping time) but they said that it would be better to get a replacement...
Gettin' my n80vn-X1 back
