I decided to get the G50Vt, but there seems to be a plethora of models available. Is there some side by side comparison sheet available somewhere?

They are all the same thing except for different cpus and screen sizes..Some may even have different hdds not sure...Scores on gaming will not really be different among them all. I have an x5 and the screen resolution is 1366x768.
So basically you are choosing between cpu, screen reso, and laptops finish..I'm not sure if their is a compare sheet I'll look for one for you.

I guess that the best bang of the buck would the the one offered at best buy. It has 2.13ghz CO2D, 4gb ram, 9800GS, 9cell battery...

The X1 is the same as the X5 except for these:
X1=2.26ghz cpu, 6cell battery, Blue, black and silver finish
X5=2.13ghz cpu, 9cell battery, Yellow, brown and black finish

I see asus has a rebate valid till 5/31. Is this the deadline for getting the form to them or should the date on my receipt be no later than 5/31?

I got the A2 and love it! The 1680x1050 screen is really nice.

The blu-ray was a bit of a bummer since the HDMI will not transmit 5.1 sound. You have to get a special cable for the SDPIF output on the headphone jack to get 5.1 sound. :(

I love the high-res screen. Text can get a bit small, but I don't expect to get presbyopia for at least another 20 years.

No way I was gonna settle for anything less than 1680x1050, been hooked since my Z71V. BluRay is a plus ;)

Idk x5 is good enough for me. Needs a new cpu though for sure.

All the dates for Asus rebates are dates that you have to purchase the notebook by. Secondly, rebate submission must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase date.

The X6 seems to be a newegg exclusive but it has a nice spec list for the price.

Amazon has it's own model X2AM:

    ASUS G50VT-X2AM 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.66 GHz Intel T9550 Processor, WSXGA+ 1680 X 1050, 4 GB RAM, NVidia 9800M GS 512MB DDR3 VRAM, 320 GB 7200RPM Hard Drive, Vista Premium 64-Bit)

    http://www.amazon.com/G50VT-X2AM-15...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242873440&sr=8-4

Those are nice specs. I would love to know if this is 6 or 9 cell though and if it comes with a bag (not that I'd use it, but still).

I thought the same thing about the bag. "I'll never use that thing" but I find myself using it everyday! I kind of thought the same thing about the mouse too and planned on trying to sell both on eBay. That is until I used them. I love them both. The bag could be a little bigger but it keeps me down to the essentials (which is a good thing). :)

I also find the bag a bit small, it works fine for also carrying a few slim items like books or folders, but anything else is out of the question. I'm just using this one until it breaks and then I will switch to my other Asus backpack that I got for $20. The mouse is nice, performs real well. The only thing is that the Copperhead is designed for claw grips. I'm a mix of fingertip and palm grips, so I find my MX510 much more comfortable, but I'm leaving the Logi at my desktop.

Together the backpack and mouse are probably worth $80-90, which is not too bad of a deal.

my experience echoes the others here who didn't think they would use the bag but find it comes in quite handy!

    Reading comprehension FTW:

"The package contains 2 year warranty card, notebook, gaming notebook backpack, and gaming optical mouse."

The backpack is made by Targus (see pics/review in sig). It's not the prettiest out of the bunch, but it gets the job done rather nicely.

The mouse used to be a Logitech MX518, but i believe they changed it to a Razer Copperhead for the newer G50Vt models.

I have a X3. I don't know where the hell my cousin got it. But at first, I ordered him to bought me a Newegg's G50Vt-X6. But he reported that he bought a G50Vt-X3 together with a Targus Citygear. So I have to face an inquisition from my mother for overpaying 300USD. But finally, I have a G50Vt with Blu-ray ODD, a 7200rpm HDD, and a Razer Copperhead. How great! The Targus Citygear is a bit too large for G50Vt, but I have to bring a lot of books to school, so everything will be OK.
