quick and important remark. ONLY get the 12xx bios, as the newest, 13xx bios removes a bluetooth option, but brings back the thermal issue again.

I didnt do a fresh install of vista on myne, just went through the add remove programs feature and removed everything I wouldn't use/crap bloatware.

    then you're set for whatever....

oh, get your windows 7 upgrade rolling...

I have the 1301 bios and I don't have the thermal issue...

Other than the clean install or manually uninstalling BB bloatware, it would be a good idea to download GPU-Z, HWMonitor, CPU-Z, and nTools if you want to OC your GPU.

If you do a clean install from the recovery disk, keep in mind that you are going to have to put in the drivers disk after the clean install is finished in addition to while the clean install is going on. For some reason, only a few of the needed drivers are installed during the recovery process, which is why you have to install many of them from the drivers disk.

Nothing is real, did you install your bios through live update or flash it yourself? I got myne and installed with live update and it went back to the thermal issue, but it had no problem installing 12 series bios.

High at around 30 fps in Crysis at native resolution (OC'd cpu, 185.85 dox drivers, CCC mod, and in DX9)

Hey, these things were good once upon a time

I used winflash, which you can find in the start menu under "Asus Utilities".

crysis it runs pretty good for a laptop, but im just basing this off of my time with the demo
With everything on High and textures on Very high, AA off, and 1440x900 native res, I can pull a solid 27fps on the demo. I think this thing can handle the COD engine very well, and games running on the unreal engine will also run great.

    thanks nothing is real.

    its a core2 p8700 at 2.53 ghz.
with the built in software from asus, you can safley overclock to 2.93 at the click of a button from turbogear, although i found that Overclocking the 15 percent for crysis doesnt make a real noticeable difference, as I think crysis prefers to rape the gpu more than the cpu lol.
