Good luck, First day I got mine I had to reload the OS because it wouldn't Boot, also had to uninstall like 8 things, and stop like 50 thing from running at startup so I could get a decent 3dMark score, But after all that......G1s is smoking ....FTW

thanks guys
i've read a few posts about the bloatware so I'm already preparing myself for removing a lot of programs.
Do you think it's worth reinstalling the OS right away? I assume all the stupid trial software etc was gone when you did the reload? -
It's actually not that bad to be honest. I have a desktop with the same basic specs and the ram usage is the same, if not lower, and it's running vista ultimate with dual monitors doing dream scenes. The biggest issue I came across was that if you do in fact disable everything, you don't get to take advantage of the whole experience that they are trying to give you. Also, the blinky side lights are enabled by directx involvement, so something like Live Messenger can set them off. Other then that, you don't really need the live update running, but I ended up installing the new office suite (2007) and I really liked outlook for whatever reason. After hating it since as long as it's been around, I actually liked it. The point of saying that is that the blue light for email wont flash unless you use outlook or windows live mail. So, it's all based on what you want, it's not something overly drastic that some people make it out to be.

I agree with SM08. Compared to Dell, Sony and HP, the G1S comes pristine. The bloatware that comes with it is easily uninstalled. It's probably more work to do a clean install and then reinstall some of the apps you need to make use of the console and webcam, etc.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on the G1s, as well. Been doing a lot of reading here and on other sites about it, but I'm also considering one of the Sager or Compal machines. I know it's a small thing, but the eSata port on the G1s is putting it ahead of the others, right now. Decisions, decisions...

Im currently accessing the web with the sony tn250. I got that over 2 years ago and that came with a lot of software but it wasn't too bad so if the G1 has less I'll be able to cope
I'll definately leave the asus software on, I want those fancy flashing lights hahaI actually believe the messenger and email leds will prove to be incredibly handy
DTrump - I was looking one from RockDirect, a UK company which uses the same chassis as sager etc however the delivery times were over a month. -
sweet, i got the regular g1 6 months ago and then they announce this lol.. nooo
