From what I know this seems like a pretty good deal. I have not heard any real crazy problems from the F3 series other then it's built quality but my current toshiba Satellite A70 is just not able to keep up with my video editting needs. I was thinking about the G1S for a bit and I am still thinking about waiting for the F8 but this seems like a pretty sweet deal. If anyone has anything to add I would love to hear it. I would also like to know if there is anything negative about the F3SV that I should know about. I don't mind the built quality because this laptop will be babied like my A70 which still is in perfect condition. :)

    * I was thinking about dropping the 200GB 7200rpm HDD because if I keep the original 160GB 5400rpm I save $189 and I already have a 120GB 5400rpm External HDD that I keep all my videos on. I could also switch the 200GB 7200rpm for a 250GB 5400 RPM with no change to the price. I was just wondering if I would really notice the difference in speed and I am also worried about the laptop getting hot because it will be on for most of the day, everyday (plugged in).* sorry thinking out loud :p

anyways here is a link to the site if you want to check it out: http://btotech.com/config.asp?config_id=f3sv-b2-custom

i really like my f3sv, id recommend it.

One thing many people are complaining about is the video card though, its not really as powerful as you may expect. I have never edited video before so i dont know how this plays in with the video card, but i really cant see how it would hold you back.

if it helps any i play counterstrike source with near full settings (minus the trilinear stuff) and 1440x900 resolution and im getting upwards of 70-80 fps. You might want to hear what others have to say about video editing though.

i find it stays really cool even under a full load for many hours at a time, so that should not be a problem at all.

Thanks, I don't plan on doing any high demand games so I think I should be good and the video card isn't really important in video editing as funny as that sounds. It is all in the CPU and the Ram.

f3sv is a very good deal from asus
granted it does not have the best mobile vga out
if f3sa has the same resolution there would be no contest. i think its the best mid range model asus has to offer now. so what that its not 8600GT? if gaming is not a priority ....
