Thanks to these forums, I have become introduced to Asus notebooks. The W3j and W7j look particularly attractive for my needs. However, the sites that I have found with Asus have had all pre-made models. I am wondering if there are any websites that allow me to customize these laptops (especially the HD since I would prefer a 7,200rpm instead of the 5,400rpm thats standard).
Thanks

the W7 and W3 are Ensemble models, meaning they are supposed to be pre-made and set at that configuration by Asus. While there are sites willing to customize it such as startechpc and geared2play, you will be voiding Asus' warranty and receiving the reseller's warranty instead.

From what I've read the difference between a 7200rpm and 5400 rpm HD in a laptop is negligible unless you plan on copying and transfering huge (like 500 mb?) files all the time. Just my opinion, the w3j and w7j are very well configured already and aren't in need of any specific upgrades but if you really want to then I believe www.agearnotebooks.com, and a bunch of other websites, will customize for you.
Good Asus websites
