There was some question about a good cooling pad for the z70va a while back. One concern was the fact that the z70va cools by sucking up air from underneath.

After weighing, reading various threads on this site and other sites, and considering the most expensive on down, wanting to get the best, no matter the cost, I decided on this: BYTECC Notebook Cooling Pad ( Aluminum ) Powered by USB port Model NC-500 (USB) for $20.

I just got it and it has been on for about an hour. I don't have measurements of temp before and after... I will try to do that later... but just by the feel, there must be a substantial drop in temperature. The air coming out from the right side used to be extremely warm, close to hot. Now it is somewhat warm. The surface under the left side which would get so hot I could not keep it on my lap... is now cool.

I have left the fans for the moment blowing onto the computer. The Bytecc's fans can be taken out and reverse direction. I will also try that. Again that is an issue of how much dust is going to get up there. Blowing the hot air away instead of cool air towards maybe a better approach. I will compare.

The Bytecc fits the z70va perfectly, not even any overhang or shortfall.. That is pretty amazing that the fit is so good.

The only drawbacks I see are: 1. The open fan units that hang down and the metal in the back that raises up the computer are a little uncomfortable on the lap. 2. It does not fold and it is not comfortably portable, even though it is light weight.

I think I am going to get a second one, a Jet-art, that has had great reviews and folds compactly away. Given that I have two laptops now and often they are both on at the same time, a second cooler would not be a waste anyway.
