I just won an auction on eBay:
ASUS REPUBLIC of GAMER G60 GAMING LAPTOP BRAND NEW - eBay (item 250635754196 end time May-29-10 12:00:56 PDT)

    $860 + shipping cost.

My other options were MSI 1727 total for around $1250, HP dv7t or this asus:
    ASUS N61JQ-X1 , new for $940 and used for $800 - $900.

I took a 16' LCD cause I plan to get another 22' monitor, so i can still keep the laptop portable. Basically the laptop will be for:
    -basic internet surfing
-Photoshop usage (but not high detailed picture rendering or nothing like that)
-some latest gaming like bad company 2, etc.
-want to keep portability in hand cause i'm a student
-trading stocks (therefore the big 22' screen)

the 1727 barebone with everything else will cost around $1250 but also higher tax, and it's a 17' monitor and heavy, but has i7 and 5870 vcard. that's a bit out of reach for me atm.

however the asus n61jq-x1 was a used laptop for 2-3 months only and i could have it for the same price $860 or even a bit lower, and a new one for $940 which is $80 more then i have paid for this asus G60, the n61 has i7 720q, and G60 with i5 420 dual core. obviously both are 16', G60 comes with 500gm hdd while the other 320, and lastly G60 with invidia 360 GTS GDDR5, and the other msi 5730 GDDR3 DX11. I know that GTS 360 proven a bit better performance over the 5730 and DX11 isn't that crucial, however the i7 quad core, how big is the difference from the i5 in terms of gaming, and basic/medium photoshop work?

    Thanks all!

Bestbuy still has this in stock for $899. Why buy from ebay at all?

    Cheers,

Then I wouldn't buy a BB version. Choose one of your other choices where you get the full ASUS warranty.

    Cheers,

well, i buy from ebay, it's the same model as in bestbuy, what's wrong with that? i get 1 year for global warranty and 1 year accidental damage warranty, in some cases asus laptops get 2 years though. warranty is not the issue for me i think.. as i prefer not to exceed $900 for a laptop and i don't see better laptops.
