Naah man, a GAMING COMPUTER like the g60vx has no way of running a game like Modern Warfare 2. I mean, If COD4 and COD:WAW ran at great speeds in native resolution with maxed out settings, it means absolutely nothing in regards to Modern Warfare 2. The G60VX isn't even capable of running Doom 1  ...

    PC system requirements for MW2

    · OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
    · Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
    · Memory: 1 GB RAM
    · Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
    · DirectX®: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
    · Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
    · Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
    · Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet Connection required for activation.
    · Co-op/Multiplayer Hosting: To host Co-op or MP matches, a 2Ghz dual-core or better processor is recommended.

What they failed to mention is that Steam is required. Now that I know other "ASUS G-Series Owners" has a good sized group on Steam, makes me feel pretty good about my recent Steam installation :)

Pre-Ordered to get $20 Gift Cards, but I waited for the day before release so I won't get it till Friday. Does anyone really care that Multi-Player is capped at 18 Players? My only gripe is that "Small Maps + Tactical Nuke" doesn't make much sense. Hopefully it will when I start playing!

Multiplayer is capped at 9v9 but other modes like Team deathmatch are only 6v6.

Enjoy the game fellaws, I will be skipping on this one but I can assure you its a fine game.

Really considering this one. What game would be comparable to MW2 so I could get an idea on how it would run? Crysis? and is it multicore supported.
Oh and about the mutliplayer. Many in the PC community are quite unhappy. If your not aware of the situation please watch for your briefing.

lol @ crysis. COD:MW1 would be the best comparison. Same engine.

The watered down multiplayer is what turned me off the most about this game. I'll stick to CS:S.

You'd rather play CS:S than CoD:MW (not MW2)? In all seriousness, what's better about it? I haven't played CS:S since it launched, and that is after playing CS since betas, so if any DLC has made it comparable, I might give it a try while I wait for my copies of MW2 to arrive. ^_^

in my honest opinion...I don't CS.S is on the level of production that MW2 is. MW2 runs awesome and looks sick on a 260M. While playing I keep saying to myself Thank God my PC can handle this badboy :)

That's because CS:S is over four years old. The Source engine was the cat's meow back in 2005, and still is to this day.

I've been hearing a lot about Borderlands. From watching a few gameplay videos, it feels like a blend of TF2 and Far Cry 2.

skygunner you play halo much? we should play sometime. not to put the hate on borderlands, but it wasnt that good of a game imo. it feels really repetitive going back and forth doing quests. the OMGZ 1million weapons was a disappoint, sure they have better stats but the feel the same. i loved the graphics art design tho, that was awesome. overall imo, its a 7/10. maybe 8/10 if you find a really good bunch of players. some of em are just too unresponsive, and never talk/chat.

Borderlands is quite great =) I will give it a 8.5/10 just because I like its art style and stuff. The imperfection comes from random BSOD crashes on my G51j.

I also got my copy of MW2 three days ago =) and I am waiting for my copy of L4D2 (pre-ordered). I don't know if it is a good thing having so many new FPS games just before my December examinations... :p

    Thinking about MW2 but I don't know ...

Would you mind posting some HWmonitor temps for COD:MW2, im just wondering if it does use the 4 core of the i7, and what temps is the game taking the i7/260.

    "SPOILER ALERT"

MW2 looks great on my G71. My native res is 1440 x 900 and that's what I play at. I have every setting at max and anti aliasing turned up to 4xAA. The ONLY time I feel my framerate go below what I'm comfortable with is during "SPOILER ALERT" the invasion of the U.S. suburbian neighboorhood by the Russians. To remedy this I turned AA from 4xAA to 2xAA. Problem solved.

I'm so Glad I went with my G71 at 1440 x 900. If I had any other model I would have to downscale the graphics and settings even more.

I'm running at 40% Cpu and 35% ram while playing MW2. I don't believe the CPU has too much to do with performance. But because you have a 260m all will be fine :D

It should for sure. I'm not aware of any G72 bsod issues but your machine should run the game.

Woot I just found out I'm getting it for x-mas ;)

In my opinion CPU always matters too along with GPU but thats great. Looking forward to it!

To clarify more on what I meant was that beyond 2.0Ghz C2D and above I don't think the CPU really makes a difference. At that point I believe it's all on the GPU. Before I returned my G72GX(bby) I had a G51GX(bby). Even though the native resolutions are a tad different just like the G71 and G72, from my personal experience with all 3 models the in game graphic performance is about the same. Most likely due to all 3 models having the same GPU.

Yea I think the makers of the COD series really make good optimized games. You would think that MW2 would need a killer gaming pc to enjoy it but that's great news that it runs well, just like the older titles in the series.

Another fps war game I really like is ArmaII but I'm struggling with my G51 to run it in it's full glory. Although I think its because the view distance is incredibly far, among other things, Ill definately need a new machine for that.

Can't wait for new COD's, I'm still playing COD UO and COD 2.

Oh yeah!! I forgot to mention that once again the Logitech G13 performs flawlessly. I hope Logitech comes out with a LCD program for MW2 for the G13 soon. I love having my WASD etc....keys positioned where I choose. I also love the fact that I don't have to wear out my laptop keys. The customizable led backlighting and lcd are off the hook!!!

Thats exactly why I got mine. It would cost less to get a new G13 then get the kb fixed. You know the G13 has its own scripts you can write yourself. Not sure if it would be useful to have something displayed on the screen from a fps game like MW2 but I believe its possible. I wish it would display cpu/gpu temps, maybe there's a script somewhere for that. Not on thread topic but for anyone curious the G13 rocks. Real excellent build quality and imo worth every penny. My G51's "w" key seems already slightly depressed from just the few times I gamed with it.

Sooo many people see me gaming with my G13 and they are shocked once I show them how it works. I can't believe some people choose the Belkin N52te over the G13. What I love most is seeing my CPU and GPU usuage and RSS feeds while gaming. I usually prefer Razer. My only bad experience with Logitech is that I had some problems with my G35 headset and W7. They have no free 1-800 number. You have to call long distance at your expense. I live in Alaska and was on hold for 27 minutes at my expense. That is ridiculous. Not once did I get to speak to a person. But never the less, I still stand behind the Logitech G13 product :)
