I had the blank screen error, and they seem to have replaced the motherboard, but now the display driver keeps crashing, is it because they replaced the motherboard? They didn't even install a new OS on it, should I reformat my laptop? How do I tell what motherboard I have in my laptop now, and which video card is in it?

Reformat and reinstall. If they used the factory default driver the G1S comes with, it has problems with more than 2 gigs of ram (Nvidia driver issue that is fixed in the latest drivers).

If they replaced your G1S-A1 motherboard with that of a G1Sn, there's a chance the BIOS isn't setup to accept your original recovery DVD. That happened to me, and I had a choice of either sending it back in or installing my own OS. I chose to install Windows XP instead. Kind of a pain.

I'm having some major problems, the laptop is fine if I don't update my display driver but it's running at like 800x600, as soon as I install a new driver, vertical green lines across my screens, then like rainbow color.......then it just goes completely blank, is this a hardware issue? Anyway to fix it?

Hardware issue I believe. Call up support again and explain the situation. You may need to do another RMA.

On another note, make sure the refresh rate is 59 or 60 Hz if you are connecting to an LCD screen.

I tried live support and got it working, I did this http://livesupport.asus.com/nbnopowerhowto.html and surprisingly it working. I think they just put in another G1S motherboard, is that possible? Because it looks like I still have the 8600m GT.

Well get this,, I just got my G1s back and they "fixed" he motherboard only , since a replacement wold have to come from Taiwan and they are out of them .. I was told they didn't want to make me "wait up to two months" to get the part in stock.

Seems like bull poo to me..

I got it back today,, not double boxed and 2nd day air.
The computer still is running hot and still has the same graphic issue as far as performance which degrades with heat. Its almost like they took it in and sent it back with no fix.

Not sure what to think right now,, it will be out of warranty next month.

Try a different driver. Also try plugging your notebook to an external monitor (if possible). If those green lines still occur, then it's definitely a problem with the GPU and i would schedule another RMA asap.

I THOUGHT I had it fixed when I did this http://livesupport.asus.com/nbnopowerhowto.html , everything was fine until I tried to play a full screen game in a different resolution, then the lines appeared and my laptop went to a blank screen again.........sigh do I really have to send it in again, I just got it back after like 2 months.
