This is a really nice machine. Looking in bios I see 6 sata ports. 0 is the hard drive, 2 is the dvd
My question is, this means that neither of those devices should be subject to the sandy bridge flaw right?
It doesn't say which ports are which but I assume 0 and 1 must be sata III and 2-5 would really be 0-3 Sata II in which case ports 2 and 3 should be the unaffected ones? Hoping someone can clarify.

Yes your optical drive may suffer degradation later on, if it's on port 2.

Maybe I didn't ask my question the right way. I understand that port 2 will degrade but my question was more of "is port 2 label the real port 2?"
I was under the impression that ports 0 and 1 were ports 0 and 1 of the SATA III but that ports 2-5 were actually 0-3 of SATA II. Maybe I misunderstand how they number the ports but I thought that there was a port 0 for both SATA II and SATA III in such a configuration. -

You can see them listed in the BIOS setup (hit F2 at POST). Port 0 and 1 are safe, the others are potentially affected by the design flaw.

Which SV did you get?

Got the Tiger Direct cheapo model, XE-1, so I have the regular screen, 500GB hard drive, and 1 year warranty I think were the only differences but for $959 it was a sweet deal to me. I replaced hdd with ssd anyway so really it came down to the screen and warranty.
Final WEI with Samsung 128GB 470 Series and upgraded to 12GB DDR3
Got my N53SV
