Congratulations!
Welcome to NBR forums.
Does the GPU run hot in this laptop like the G60VX? -

What Pll are you using in SETFSB to overclock !??

I have the quad core version and my highest temps without OC are around 82c in WoW and thats with a cooling pad.

I am getting average temperatures. The GTX 260M is easily overclockable over the stock GTX 260M settings. I have it set over 280M specs and it is running nice. Highest it has ever been is 98 and that is after awhile of Furmark. The Q9000 can get about 2.37 (you can see my CPU validator in the sig), and then it starts to get unstable. I did some research before I bought it. The Q9000 overclocked is actually a better performer than the 720QM, according to synthetic benchmarks, unless you are big into the Pi to 1000 game. The 2.4ghz with four cores beats out the i7's 1.6ghz quad, it beats out the 2 cores at 2.4ghz of the i7, and it beats out the 2.8ghz single core of the i7 in just about all situations. Thats what influenced my choice of it over the i7 model RoG laptop.
The 6 gigs of ram and 2 7200RPM harddrives is certainly overkill as well, in a good way. This thing is a multitasking beast. I run Dragon Age Origins VERY smoothly at max settings. I can run anything I throw at it at high settings, Crysis included. (Not max though.) -

yeah I cannot be happier with mine very decent machine able to run everything I have no problems, good performing, nice keyboard, just everything is really well done. Kinda wished they kept the lights but hey, its not everything....
Not getting a second hdd caddy though is kinda annoying.

Has anyone tried the new bios for this laptop? and if so what does it fix?

I got my G72GX laptop 2 weeks ago and I'm also very pleased with it
Currently I'm having a little trouble with OC. After a BIOS update I get the option to enable turbogear in the BIOS but it only appears the first time I enter the BIOS after an update. Even if I enable it that time it won't take any effect
Another thing that is bothering me are the BSOD's I'm getting at boot in some circumstances that occur when I change something at the BIOS (just sometimes and this one is less frequent) or when I change the graphic drivers (in the correct way - unisntall the previous with the normal uninstaller and then run driver sweeper to clean the rest in safe mode). To stop the BSOD's I have to turn off the laptop and take out the AC adapter and after the boot went OK It won't happen again unless I make some of the previous procedures I mentioned. I blame the graphic card for this or windows as it is when the graphic card driver is loaded when the BSOD occurs
If anyone knows how to deal with these two issues help plz -

I read something about turbogear not supporting C2D Q9XXX.. can anyone confirm this? -
You can always use SetFSB or similar programs to overclock. You don't have to use the ASUS program.

)
Anyway, I already confirmed that turbogear is not supported on G72GX so case closed -
Turbo gear works on the X05 though, just not the X09.

Has anyone seen a disassembly guide for the g72gx? I've got the G72Gx-rrbx09 and am looking to add bluetooth and stuff.

For those interested, I made a small video showing off the laptop
You can see it here.
Got my new G72GX!
